Chicken Cholay by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

  • Chicken 1 kg
  • Boiled white chickpeas ½ kg
  • Chopped onions 3-4
  • Black peppercorns 4-5
  • Cinnamon 1
  • Black cardamom 1
  • Cloves 2-3
  • Chopped ginger 2-3
  • Red chili powder 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Green chilies 5-6
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Chopped garlic cloves 2
  • Whole coriander seeds 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp

 

Method:

  1. Heat oil, add onions sauté till golden.
  2. Then add peppercorns, cloves, cardamom, garlic, sauté add water.
  3. Then add chicken and sauté till colour changes.
  4. Add salt, let chicken cook.
  5. Add chopped green chillies, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, add boiled chickpeas and let cook.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala powder and serve.
