Moong Daal Halwa

Ingredients:

  • Split green gram                    1 cup
  • Clarified Butter                      ½ cup
  • Sugar                                      1 cup
  • Water                                                 1-½ cups
  • Milk                                         1-½ cups
  • Almonds                                 2-3 tbsp

Method:

  1. Clean and wash the Split green gram.
  2. Leave it on sieve to remove the extra water.
  3. Coarsely grind the dry Split green gram.
  4. In a pan heat the ghee.
  5. Add coarsely ground Split green gram and fry on medium to low heat until it changes color and is aromatic.
  6. It takes about 7-8 minutes to fry the Split green gram
  7. Add water and the lentils for about 5-6 minutes or until the lentils absorb the water.
  8. Add milk, after adding milk fried pulse properly.
  9. It takes about 10-12 minutes to cook the lentils. Fry on medium heat until it absorbs all the milk.
  10. Moong dal is almost done.
  11. Add sugar into the cooked dal.
  12. Cook until the water left by the sugar evaporates. Takes about 5 minutes.
  13. Moong dal Halwa is ready. Garnish with almonds
  14. Delicious and traditional moong dal halwa is ready to serve.
