Taftan Recipe by Shireen Anwar

Ingredients:

  • Flour 2 cups
  • Milk powder ½cup
  • Sugar 2 tbsp
  • Butter 2 tbsp heaved
  • Salt ½ tsp
  • Instant Yeast 1½ tsp
  • Brown Sugar 1 tbsp
  • Yellow Food Color a pinch
  • Oil ¼ cup

Method:

  1. Sieve flour; add milk powder, sugar, salt and yeast.
  2. Mix in the butter.
  3. Knead with lukewarm water into soft dough.
  4. Cover and leave to rise for 1 hour until double.
  5. Roll into 2 or 3 small thick rotis.
  6. Make decorative cuts with a sharp knife.
  7. Mix brown sugar oil and yellow color together.
  8. Brush the taftan with this mixture and bake in a pre heated oven 200 degrees for 15 mins.
  9. Serve with qorma.
